Ministry of Education has announced that they are not going to implement the new proposed school hours extension due to the damages happened in the schools system and transportation sector in the country, until those are restored. Also, they have announced the following notices to the public through their media unit.
The remaining papers of the 2025 General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level (A/L) examination are set to resume today after a significant break caused by Cyclone Ditwah , authorities confirmed. The postponed examinations, originally interrupted due to widespread weather disruption late last year, will be conducted under a revised timetable laid out by the Department of Examinations. Candidates across the island will sit for their remaining papers from 12 to 20 January 2026 at over 2,000 examination centres . Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage said logistical preparations have been completed and that exam management teams are in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the tests.
