School hours will not be extended

Ministry of Education has announced that they are not going to implement the new proposed school hours extension due to the damages happened in the schools system and transportation sector in the country, until those are restored. Also, they have announced the following notices to the public through their media unit.

Court issues order on Wimal Weerawansa’s protest near Education Ministry

A court today issued an order in connection with a protest organised by National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa near the Ministry of Education, following a request made by the police citing public inconvenience and security concerns. According to court proceedings , the police informed the court that the protest had caused traffic congestion and disruption to public movement in the area surrounding the Education Ministry. The police further stated that there was a risk of obstruction to official duties and public access if demonstrations continued without regulation. Based on submissions made by the Police Media Division , the court ordered that no individual or group should obstruct roads, public pathways, or access points to the Ministry of Education during protests.
